Special Need for Rosenberg Animal Shelter Pets

January 11, 2012

The majority of the time, animal rescue groups are begging for more fosters so they can save an animal. Today, we have a Foster that is seeking a rescue group to help her save Gizmo.

You know how some days, a particular dog or cat will break through and pierce your heart more than others. That seems to be the case for Lynnette Nadeau. She has been working to save Gizmo at the Rosenberg shelter and to help him find a forever home. She is an individual and is looking for a Rescue to help her. On the Pawsitively Texas Facebook page she writes

“There is a small, young terrier in the Rosenburg shelter that I would like to rescue. I can foster him until we can find him a home but I need one of the organizations to pull him for me. Metroplex Mutts says I can bring him to their events once he is utd & neutered. If one of the organizations can pull him and there is someone to help with transport I will drive south to meet them. The dog’s name is Gizmo, about 1 year old. I’d really like to see this animal saved.”

I spoke with Rosenberg shelter this morning and was told that if I took the pup out of the shelter as an individual it would cost me $113, plus it would be 2 weeks before I could take him home because they would have him neutered first. If an authorized/recognized 501(c)3 sent the paperwork and authorized them to release him to me then it would be free of charge. I can get him neutered here for a whole lot less than $100 and he would be able to recover here instead of their shelter.

I also don’t think they have a volunteer organization there. The officer said they weren’t able to do all of the things they wanted to because of very limited space and shortage of staff. When I mentioned the volunteers at Seagoville and how they came to help clean and feed the animals and exercise them she said Seagoville was really lucky to have that kind of volunteer support. I haven’t seen any nonprofit associated with the Rosenberg shelter the way other groups do. So can anyone help me get this guy out of doggie jail?”

Lynnette is in Terrell, Texas; is there a Rescue that is willing to work with her to save Gizmo? If so, please call her at 469-274-6854 from 9am – 10pm.

Also, in her conversation with the Rosenberg shelter officer, Lynnette identified a need for more volunteers to help out at the shelter. The folks that administer the Rosenberg Texas animal shelter page and photograph the shelter pets are doing a really nice job of raising awareness for the pets in their community. But imagine if even more volunteers joined them and they created a Friends of the Shelter group … that helped the small shelter staff care for the dogs, host adoption events, assure that supplies never ran low, and more?! On their page they write,

“We’re always in need of CLAY litter, blankets, towels, newspaper, gift cards from Wal-mart & Target so we can buy fresh food for the animals instead of storing it. There’s always a need for volunteers & someone to play with the animals!” … so the need for extra volunteers is there! With hope, volunteers will be able to step up and help this shelter!

In addition to Gizmo, the Rosenberg Texas shelters has other beautiful dogs and cats. Some look purebred, Yorkie, Cocker Spaniel, Labs, Doxie, and MORE. 1. Hello, I am Lynnette – the one who would love to rescue Gizmo and help him find a permanent home. All I am asking for is an official animal rescue group to help me get him out of the shelter. He needs to be neutered and brought UTD on vaccinations so we can get this young little guy to a deserving family.
I do fostering for Seagoville Animal Shelter now, but have spent many years taking in animals that people threw out on our country back road in San Jacinto County. I have had many personal animals that I adopted from a shelter or picked up on the road. Mostly I’ve had yorkies, border collies and Pyrenees but lots of mutts too.
Please call or text me at 469-274-6854 from 9am – 10pm if you can assist. Thank you
    LN

  2. Lynnette, I have shared your request and I hope it works out, he is so cute. I will follow up to see how things are going. Good Luck my doggie friend!
