FLOYD COUNTY ALPHATEX KENNELS DOG SEIZURE UPDATE: In September, I reported on the Floyd County seizure of nearly 250 dogs from the AlphaTexas Kennels in West Texas (click here). This KFYO news article describes the health and condition of the dogs and has photos of some of the seizure as does this local news story. Although the photo slideshow on KCBD news channel shows the pets and the conditions best.
The owners of the AlphaTex kennels, whose dogs were seized due to reports and observations of neglect, first asked for a jury trial which delays the Humane Society of West Texas from doing more for the care of the dogs and finding homes for them – increasing their operating costs in caring for the dogs. Now, the Smiths want to sue Floyd County in the matter, and Commissioner Johnson said at least two Floyd County officials want to avoid a lawsuit with a $200,000 settlement.
“Our county judge (Penny Golightly) and our county attorney (Lex Herrington), they want to settle out of court,” said Johnson, who disagrees with any kind of settlement. “The taxpayers in this county had rather pay an attorney a lot more money rather than reward these people for cruelty for animals.”
Jacobs also encouraged people who disagree with a settlement to write letters voicing their displeasure. She suggested addressing the letters to Floyd County Judge Penny Golightly, Floyd Co. Courthouse, 105 Main, Floydada, TX 79235.

Stop cruelty to animals.
where have we went so wrong that living creatures dont matter and large sums of money is squandered wen could b used to assist the abused animals, all involved in this decision should be terminated for they dont belong in this field. also, anyone that makes any living being have to lay in own feces should serve time for cruelty and all involved in delaying making this right, should be very ashamed and should be terminated and fined very heavily!
If there is adaquate proof that the animals were living in filth and their own feces and showing signs of neglect etc..there should be no reason to settle a thing with the owners of said animals! Let them take it to court and see where they land..Cruelty is a crime weather the judge knows it or not and should not be taken lightly..said owners should be held accountable for their in-actions in the care of these animals..I pray there is swift punishment in this matter.

Why in the world offer them anything? They should be in jail, take it to a jury and see how many people support neglect and abuse on this scale.

WHY NOT LET THEM KEEP THE ANIMALS AND FURTHER ABUSE THEM RATHER THAN CONFISCATE THEM AND STILL LET THE PEOPLE OF YOUR TOWN PAY FOR THEIR UPKEEP AND ALL THE MEDICAL, THEN REWARD THE PEOPLE YOU TOOK THEM FROM BY PAYING THEM $200.00??? USE IT FOR THE ANIMALS. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE??? AND SOCIETY??? SEND THEM A VALUABLE LESSON WITH THIS OK? YES!!!! IT IS OK TO ABUSE ANIMALS AND IF THAT ISN’T ENOUGH AND YOU GET BORED WHY NOT ABUSE PEOPLE!!!!! OH AND WE CAN’T FORGET ABUSE OF CHILDREN EITHER CAN WE!!!!
